So i'm working on my next big project, and i'm sure its going to take a lot out of me. Not a heck of alot to show for it yet, but here's some low poly trees i made really quick, i think they came out ok.

128x128 for the bark, and 128x128 for the canopy. More to come during the week.

Random thoughts

So i've come to the conclusion that standard art is really not my thing. I have the desire to create through code, and help other's through tools. I've found i'm becoming more and more a programmer and less and less an artist. Am i happy with this change....i'm beginning to think yes. I seem to find more glee in getting a tool to work, or finding some cool new thing i can automate instead of working with the tedious tendencies that come with modeling or animating.

Does this mean i hate modeling or animating? No that's not true, but i find that i can not limit my interests to one branch or the other, when i get bored with one aspect i run to the other. I guess i'm glad i am at a job currently where i can run back and forth between obligations, and keep me on my toes.

So i guess for starters, let me know if anyone needs some tools for max, or maya..i could use some exploration into that field, and i'll get on it.

Flash here i come...Ra Ra Ra

Well, now that things are slowing down at work, and in my life..i see more possibilities to get some of my own work done. So my friend and I are going to be studying up hardcore on actionscripting and begin working on a new project.

In regards to the art side...i got a new book from the Penny Arcade guys...some awesome stuff in there...and i got a new Simpson book that has most of the character model sheets in it....its some pretty cool stuff, i highly suggest it.

Where has the time gone?

Seriously, where has the time gone....hard to believe that a year ago i graduated, and honestly i don't have that much to show for it. Its hard to believe 12 months ago at this time i was pulling my hair out trying to get something close to a decent demo reel done, a reel with an emphasis in animation done in maya...

and here i am a year later..a modeler/tool writer, that works in max. And from my recollection, its basically only me, rusty, eddie, art, and lana still in town. And lana only because she hasn't graduated yet. So seriously, I definately want to get a night out scheduled before Art moves on to Cali...I know we've been talking about for a while, but lets do it. How's everyone looking the 16th of this month?

GTG

Well, looks like i'm full time on a new Golden Tee Golf now. So I guess i'm officially an environmental artist. I might be able to post some of the things i've been working on later, we'll see. Its mostly been objects, buildings, and the like. I also have a project that i'm supposed to be helping my brother. Its a drawing project, and I haven't done that in a while, so we'll see how it goes... probably will be looking for some feedback, so stay tuned.

Workaholic

Man, these weeks are blending together. Feels like i just started working, and i've been at IT for almost 2 months. I'm kind of cringing as i say these words, but i'm actually getting used to using 3ds max. I think if i stepped back to maya now, i'd defiantely have some problems. But tis all good. Seems at work they've got me working on 2 projects now. I don't really know if thats good or bad, you could say good meaning i've been doing good and they want more of my work else where.........or, you could go the bad route, and i've messed up the one project so bad that they want to quickly get me on to something different. Guess i'll find out soon enough.

Was checking out the reviews, and it seems Flushed Away didn't do to hot. Kind of disappointing, but i'll probably see it anyways. Anyone seen it yet, and can give feedback?

Work work work

Well, finally started getting work to do at IT...not bad for working there a month. Its all good because they were just making sure I learned Max before they threw me into the production timeline.

Other than that, I saw Open Season last weekend. Man that movie was definately worth the wait. To anyone who hasn't seen it yet, go check it out. I think my jaw was open in awe, and the rest of the time i was on the ground rolling in laughter...it was spectacular.
